Experience Gift Ideas For Dad
If you’re looking to give a gift that’s beyond the typical, physical, material thing you unwrap, then we’ve got some ideas for you that will create unforgettable memories.
In this post, we focus on experience gift ideas for Dad that will bring them back to a childhood delight.
Admiral’s Warbird Adventure
What experience to have than taking a historic flight on an open air, authentic World War II aircraft?
If you find yourself traveling to Oahu on the need for adventure, you can really blow Dad away with an unforgettable Admiral’s Warbird Adventure. The Admiral’s Warbird Adventure is the perfect way for your man to relive history. His experience begins as a member of the Aviation Detachment – on December 10th, 1941 three days after the devastating attack on Pearl Harbor. History comes alive once he receives his simulated Classified Intelligence Brief, similar to what you may have experienced in 1941, to assist him in his Route-Reconnaissance and Battle Damage Assessment mission. Then he’ll execute a Battle Damage Reconnaissance flight aboard the venerable U.S. Navy (AT-6) that many WWII Aviation Cadets experienced early in their training. He’ll see Pearl Harbor and O‘ahu from the air as the Army and Navy airmen saw it and fly the same routes the Japanese attackers used. The sights, sounds and smells of the military aircraft with its radial engine provide the experience of a lifetime.
There are two tours that Pearl Harbor Warbirds offers. The Admiral’s Warbird Adventure is our most popular tour, but he may also enjoy a flight in our vintage warbird airplane with our Ensign’s Warbird Experience.
Halibut Fishing In Homer, Alaska
Homer, Alaska is a small town in Alaska that happens to be the Halibut fishing capital of the world. Board a boat – the smaller the better – and spend a day fishing for halibut and or king salmon. Halibut fishing is easy for even the beginning fisherman. Drop a line to the bottom, and you could reel in a fish up to 300+ pounds. Any halibut under 20 pounds is usually thrown back by the captain, ensuring that you’ll bring home up to 2 halibuts for year round grilling.
It’s gotta be one of the best experience gift ideas for men that exists in America.
Weekend At Wrigley Field
Let’s get one thing straight: Dads don’t even have to like baseball to enjoy an experience at Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs. Sure, there’s baseball being played during the few hours that you attend a game, but there’s not a more pure sporting experience than soaking in a sunny summer Chicago day than at a stadium lined with ivy walls in the outfield. With bars surrounding the adjoining neighborhood (and inside the stadium itself), spending a weekend at Wrigley for a couple baseball games is a pure, American way to sit, back, relax and appreciate life.
An Epic Roadtrip In An RV
What better experience is there than an epic roadtrip with friends or family? Every Dad has imagined themselves – at one point or another – escaping reality behind the wheel of an RV as it cruises down the highway at top speeds of 55mph. Rent an RV and plan a journey to an RV friendly destination. You’ll never regret it.
Grand Canyon Hike
So we’ve covered experiences on planes, boats, RVs, and if you’re going Wrigley – cabs (or Uber). But we’ve haven’t discussed experience gift ideas on foot, and that’s where a Grand Canyon hike comes in. Thousands of people venture to the Grand Canyon from all around the world each year and gaze at the depth of the canyon from the rim. But not as many experience the beauty and true depth of the Canyon from inside on the trails. If you’re going to gift this experience, consider gifting hiking essentials like good shoes, water containers, and other Grand Canyon survivalist equipment.
What other experience gift ideas for Dad do you have? We hope you take one of these five ideas and have an amazing experience – wherever it may be!
